Rose Owens is a writer of short stories, essays, blogs, and books. Her Maryalise trilogy (middle grade fantasy novels) are available on Amazon. Maryalise began as a response to a creative writing class writing prompt. She rapidly assumed a life of her own with a story that wanted to be told. Telling that story evolved into three books. Rose has also written a children’s picture book: Who Was There: A Nativity Story for Children. The Huggable Nativity figures in the pictures were handcrafted by Rose.
Rose Owens is a storyteller and has performed in schools, storytelling festivals, libraries, and recently on Zoom. She tells folktales, personal stories, family stories and stories that she has written. During the past ten years Rose has performed as The Temple Hill Storyteller, sharing Christmas stories in the Visitor Center on Temple Hill in Oakland, California. Five years ago she began sharing interactive stories for pre-school and lower elementary children, also in the Visitor Center on Temple Hill. That program is now available on Zoom on the first Wednesday of each month. Her Zoom Storytelling Schedule is available on her website: rosethestorylady.net In October of 2020 Rose was a featured teller on Tell It On Tuesday presented by The Marsh.
Rose is a member of California Writers Club. She has served as Vice President for her local branch and is currently the Newsletter Editor. She has a BS degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Special Education. Her teaching experience includes First Grade and Middle School (6-8 grades).
Rose is a wife, mother of seven children and grandmother of twentyfive grandchildren. When she is not writing or storytelling, Rose likes to sew, cook, garden and paint.
